Together we stabilize stormwater

BBG's GSI Team is working with you to standardize green stormwater infrastructure.

What is Stormwater?

Stormwater is excessive rainfall that does not soak into the ground, but instead flows over the land’s hard surface into the nearest water body through storm drain channels.

Why Stormwater Infrastructure matters

The DC region experiences increased stormwater runoff as a result of development. This runoff places a burden on sewer systems and degrades aquatic resources when it is not managed adequately. DC’s stormwater regulations adapted in 2013 after it's stormwater quality standard moved to a retention-based standard. Stormwater infrastructure provides both treatment and volume control of degrading runoff. Build Better Group installs and performs maintenance on green stormwater infrastructure in the Washington DC region.

Water Pollution

Check out this video from our friends at the Watershed Institute to learn more about pollution from stormwater runoff. BBG operates an Anacostia River Abatement program with the GSI program to defend against water pollution in Washington DC.
